La Barroche 2017 is a special wine, from a special winemaker and a not so special place - More on that later
La Barroche is one of the very best winemakers in the world famous Chateauneuf du pape. His wines are sensational and more than justify the triple figure sums you need to spend to grab a bottle. I love their wines and have drunk them on a number of occasions.
However spending over $100 is not something you want to do every day, which is where this not so special place place comes in.
To be honest it is a pretty special place, it is just not in the village of Chateauneuf du pape and so La Barroche cannot put that lofty regional name on the bottle with all the lovely embossing they do so well . What they can do is put all the love and attention into this wine they normally do and produce what I and many other experts are calling the best value Cote Rhone of the area. This wine is actually sourced from a vineyard owned by a long term friend of the winemaker, but the vines are over 50 years old.
Yes the La Barroche Liberty is better than most Chateauneuf du pape's of the area, plus you can afford to drink it on a regular basis. If you love Grenache wines in all their beauty then this is a wine that must be in your cellar.
This is a wine I have shared with a lot of my friends and it has never failed to impress.
